I'm "the therapy lady" (aka Marni) - a Los Angeles based Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (#104068). I am currently being supervised by Stacy-Colleen Nameth, LCSW (LCS #20894). I provide counseling services to individuals, couples, families and children from a strength-based and relational foundation, integrating mindfulness and cognitive-behavioral therapy when appropriate. I am rooted in social justice and incorporate social justice themes when working with my clients. I am trained in both the The Trauma Resiliency Model® and Community Resiliency Model®, which are trauma-based interventions designed to provide clients with tools to bring back mind and body balance after traumatic events. Additionally, I am trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), a technique designed to alleviate the distress associated with traumatic memories. I earned a Master's Degree of Arts in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University Los Angeles, a Master's Degree of Business Administration from the University of Arizona, and a Bachelor's Degree of Science in Management from Tulane University.
Prior to becoming a clinician, I worked for many years in the corporate world as a marketing professional and business owner. While I enjoyed my work, I felt unfulfilled, as if there was something missing from my life. I realized that a career rooted in social justice and interpersonal connection would be more fulfilling and better suit my personality characteristics. I am grateful for the opportunity to sit with clients, and witness their strength, courage and vulnerability.
Thanks for stopping by!
